BSI faculty mentored students win poster award at FAME meeting


FIU students Alexander Bolufer and Anthony Castellanos from Dr Francisco Fernandez-Lima research group, which focuses on the development of new generation instrumentation and methodologies for biomedical and behavioral research, obtained second place for poster presentations during the 2017 Florida Annual Meeting and Exposition (FAME), held in Tarpon Springs, FL.

Alexander Bolufer, a FIU chemistry major supervised by Alyssa Garabedian (PhD student), presented a poster on “Peptide Sequence Influence on the Conformational Dynamics of the Intrinsically Disordered ATHP 3 Peptide”.

Anthony Castellanos, a third year PhD student, presented a poster on “Characterization of Diet-Induced Molecular Changes in Ovarian Reserves of Aedes Aegypti using 3D-MSI-TOF-SIMS AND MALDI FT-ICR MS”.
